Chess Club

by Charlotte Chess Center & Scholastic Academy

 

The Charlotte Chess Center & Scholastic Academy, recently awarded 2019 Chess Club of the Year by the United States Chess Federation, provides an all-inclusive chess program to schools that includes chess sets, online chess tools, and master level chess instruction. Our school programs are designed for students from complete beginner to the level of tournament play.

Small Hands Big Art

Small Hands Big Art is bringing their signature programs, phenomenal teachers, and lots of glitter to Gold Hill Elementary School this Fall! Each week we will dabble in different media using only the finest materials (liquid watercolors, oil pastels, heavy weight paper to name just a few). This class blends fine art techniques with your child's own creative expression. When you pick your child up from this class, we guarantee that you will want to run straight to the frame shop!

Small Hands Big Art has been delighting kids at it's South Charlotte studio since 2009. Now with a second studio in Fort Mill, we've brought our magical brand of joy & creativity to our South Carolina friends. We can't wait to meet you!

Bricks 4 Kidz® After-School Classes build on the universal popularity of LEGO®Bricks to deliver high quality, educational play. Every class is a fun, enriching experience for your child, building new projects each week based on a theme, using the classic bricks loved by generations of children. ​There will be two after school classes based upon the grade level your child is in.

Code Ninjas

Code Ninjas is thrilled to come to GHES this spring with our JR Coder & STEM program! This club is open to future ninjas currently in grades K-2. Over the course of 9 weeks we will dive into the world of coding, robotics and STEM! JR Ninjas will learn about algorithms, sequencing, debugging, loops, and more with

hands-on activities each class. Your child will develop STEM, logic, problem-solving and teamwork skills, all while having a BLAST!

Movement, Mindfulness and Me

Grades 1-3 – “Young Yogis- Mindful Adventures” - 

This after school class is designed specifically for the motor, cognitive and sensory benefits of the early elementary aged students. Participants will:

 

· stretch and strengthen their bodies through yoga postures and motor activities

· build social skills through interactive games and stories with related yoga poses

· improve focus and attention by incorporating self-regulation strategies, and breathing techniques into developmentally appropriate yoga games

Each class will end with calming relaxation time (i.e. guided stories, sharing time, etc.)  Classes are taught by a 20+ year experienced pediatric OT, registered yoga teacher, registered children’s yoga teacher & mindfulness teacher!
